One Vattikuti Fellow's Experience

It is always rewarding to hear from our Vattikuti Fellows following the completion of their year-long Fellowships. Omkar Sahindrakar just concluded his post with Prof. Somashekhar S. P. at Aster Institute of Oncology, Karnataka, India.

In his words, here's what Dr. Sahindrakar wrote us:

Working under Prof. Somashekhar and his exceptional team has been nothing short of life-changing. This Fellowship provided me with an incredible foundation in robotic surgery while offering so much more than I could have imagined.

During my Fellowship, I had the privilege of:
  • Mastering advanced robotic surgical techniques
  • Attending two prestigious international conferences
  • Winning the best paper award at SISSO in South Korea
  • Participating in numerous national conferences
  • Presenting two videos as faculty at FARIS Hyderabad 2025
  • Submitting three manuscripts for publication in international journals

Throughout this journey, I received unwavering support from my Aster family, which made all the difference in my growth as a surgeon. Equally important was the superb coordination and incredibly helpful professional nature of the Vattikuti Foundation Team. Their guidance, responsiveness, and genuine care for each Fellow's success created an environment where we could focus entirely on learning and growing as surgeons.

For future Fellows, I want to emphasize that at Aster, you'll receive far more than just robotic surgery training. It's truly a crash course in surgical oncology that prepares you for real-life surgical oncology practice. The comprehensive training you'll receive here will equip you to excel in your future career.

However, be prepared to work incredibly hard to meet Som sir's (Professor Somashekhar's) high expectations. The standards are demanding, but they push you to achieve excellence you never thought possible.

The Vattikuti Fellowship is a prestigious program that will fundamentally change your career trajectory. Every Fellow receives a priceless gift through the generosity of the Vattikuti Family, and the seamless support system created by team members like Giovanna.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of this remarkable program, supported by such dedicated professionals who truly care about our development.
