597 Lateral-Robotic Video Endoscopic Inguinal Lymph Node Dissection

Dr. Nikhil Nagakumar

Open inguinal lymph node dissection is associated with complications like skin necrosis, wound infection, lower limb edema, lymphedema, and lymphocele. To reduce complications related to open ILND, many technical modifications have gained popularity because of their low complication rates and good oncological outcome like Video endoscopic inguinal lymph node dissection (VEIL) and robot-assisted video endoscopic inguinal lymph node dissection (RA-VEIL). Our technique Lateral Approach RA-VEIL has obvious advantages over VEIL and RAVEIL in terms of better ergonomics for surgeons, and better visibility of the boundaries of the femoral triangle and vessels leading to less intraoperative time and blood loss, keeping the good oncological outcome. The Traditional VEIL involves placement of the camera port along the longitudinal axis of the thigh, and the two working ports on either side of the camera port. This port position has major problems like bad ergonomics and poor visibility of femoral triangle boundaries.
