Wash utensils with hot water and gloves
Any dishes, glasses, or cups used by the sick person should be handled with gloves and not bare hands. Additionally, the caregivers must either wash them in a dishwasher or with soap and hot water.
Avoid sharing personal items
Understanding how to quarantine at home with family can be trickier than you thought. This is because we tend to share everyday items of use with each other. However, when it comes to sharing a space with an infected family member, sharing items such as towels, cups, dishes, glasses, electronic items, or bedding should be avoided religiously.
Disinfect your house
An important aspect of observing quarantine at home is to get it disinfected every day. Clean your house with a product containing detergent or soap. Clean all surfaces that have been touched, especially after having visitors at home. Some high-touch surfaces include tables, doorknobs, light switches, handles, countertops, and remote controls.
Wear a mask
Before you enter the patient’s room, wear a mask and have them wear one too. Additionally, wear gloves before touching any kind of fluid around them. It can also include their urine, saliva, vomit, mucus, etc.
Wash your hands
Make sure to wash your hands every now and then with water and soap for at least 20 seconds. Soap has been proven to kill the Covid-19 virus. Encourage the rest of the family to do the same too. Keep sanitizers at every corner of your house for use in case there isn’t plenty of soap and water available. Keep your hands off your nose, eyes, and mouth as much as possible.
Stock up your house
Being in quarantine can affect your ability to access markets and get daily supplies. Therefore, always keep your house stocked up with all necessary grocery items before you start isolating or have someone drop them by at your door.
