29 March 2024
In another first for the Indian SSi Mantra surgical System, a surgical team at Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences has replaced a faulty mitral valve in an unspecified patient, who was discharged three days after the procedure. Prior to the first mitral valve work, the Mantra has been used safely on "more than 60" heart bypass procedures, according to Dr. Nitin Kumar Rajput, Narayana Health Consulting Surgeon, in published reports.
Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, himself a cardiac surgeon and Founder and Chairman of SS Innovations, the developer of the Mantra robot, assisted Dr. Rajput with the procedure. He told 'Surgical Robotic Technology' news service: “We are very proud that using our Made in India, SSi Mantra Surgical Robotic System, we have performed a variety of robotic heart surgeries... I am very pleased that our original goal is now being met in conjunction with the highly talented surgeons at the Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences.”
