641 Hammock Retractor: Simplifying Robotic Upper GI Surgery

Dr. Sanjiv Haribhakti

Robotic upper GI surgery often requires surgery beneath the left lobe of liver at the oesophageal hiatus, commonly for hiatal hernia, achalasia cardia, obesity, and UGI cancers. Adequate atraumatic liver retraction is essential. Conventional options include a 5 mm blunt rod, Nathanson retractor, or graspers. With the advent of robotic and single incision/port surgery, these methods can be limiting. We describe a novel, indigenously created, simple device – “Hammock” for left lobe retraction.
