Robotic Transthoracic & Transperitoneal Esophagectomy on da Vinci X system

The patient was a 65-yr-old man found to have a 3×3 cms growth in the lower third of his esophagus, lumen partially compromised. Following Neo Adjuvant Chemotherapy, Dr. Somashekhar and his team performed an esophagectomy, LND and reconstruction using the da Vinci X Surgical System, using technique developed at Manipal, which differs from the Intuitive Surgical procedure approach.
