A group of congenital conditions affecting human sex determination and differentiation that is labelled as Intersex state or ambiguous genitalia is diagnosed at birth to sometimes adolescence. This condition continues to get neglected in many societies leading to suboptimal physical and psychosexual outcomes in individuals from adolescent to mature years. The subject- shrouded in neglect and unawareness- has found conflicts, age-related delays in the natural evolution of the person suffering from the entity. An attempt to connect society with parents and healthcare personnel on all aspects by handholding issues that will contribute towards clinical care and cure has been missing in the public domain. We hope to contribute to improved understanding and management of these challenging conditions by involved medical professionals. Dr. Pandey discusses the subject in understandable terms, shedding light on a malady that is so much underreported, underdiagnosed, understudied and undertreated. Bringing families and society closer to the realities of these abnormalities that need multidisciplinary care will ultimately help the child.
