Vattikuti Collective Quality Initiative

The Vattikuti Collective Quality Initiative (VCQI) is a collaboration of quality seeking medical institutions and thought leaders around the world with a focus on improving patient outcomes after robotic surgery for various indications. The VCQI database is a prospective, user-friendly, multi-procedural web-based platform which is HIPAA compliant that will allow data managers at participant centers to record data in a prospective manner. Data from each participant center will be monitored for quality and timeliness by a central administrator before being accepted into the VCQI database. Further, a separate tool within the VCQI database will allow the prior data from the participant center to be migrated into the VCQI database, to prevent loss of previously recorded data. Rigorous standards for data collection and interval quality checks will assure high-quality of data.

At the present time the VCQI web platform hosts the databases for four main robotic procedures, Robot-Assisted Partial Nephrectomy (RAPN), Kidney Transplant (KT) and Robot-Assisted Radical Nephrectomy (RARN) and Endometrial Cancer (EC); a new procedure is ready to be implemented: the Oropharyngeal Cancer database.

A total of 25 centers from the United States, India and Europe have contributed to the VCQI. Nineteen centers are participating in the first implemented procedure, the RAPN database. This database has more than 3961 records entered in the VCQI platform. The RARP procedure database was started in November 2015, it currently has eight active centers and a total of 12,026 records have been collected.

The VCQI has proven to be a remarkable initiative, satisfying the unmet needs of the clinicians and researchers. These data sets have already been used to generate scientific papers presented to the Annual Congresses of the American Urological Association and the European Urological Association since 2016 and a total of 29 publications/Abstracts were published or presented.
