The Vattikuti Foundation Now Supporting Neurological Disease Treatment, Research
22 JANUARY 2025
Recently, the Vattikuti Foundation has made a $2.8-Million commitment to fund the Vattikuti Institute of Advanced Neurotechnology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. The Institute is to be (OR: now) equipped with the latest technology available to treat victims of neurological diseases. One device is the 'Neuroblate-650, which uses high-intensity focused ultrasound to attack tissue in the brain known to cause tremors and other neurologic maladies. The non-invasive ultrasound beams are directed by magnetic imaging.
The Vattikuti Foundation considers part of its mission to provide help to those needing to use public institutions, helping them have the same benefits available to those in private hospitals. One other benefit: the technology has already shown promise in treating Parkinson’s disease, neuropathic pain, epilepsy, and even enhancing the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme, a type of brain cancer, by disrupting the blood-brain barrier to allow chemotherapy access.
On February 12th, Vattikuti Foundation CEO Dr. Mahendra Bhandari will be hosting a gathering of some of India's premier neurosurgeons to inform them of the latest Vattikuti Foundation initiative. Raj Vattikuti is expected to address the group, too.
