Introduction: Buccal Ureteroplasty for treatment of long segment upper ureteral strictures is a novel approach with least morbidity. Here is a presentation about same procedure with the use of robotic technology
Methods: Total of 6 patients underwent this type of procedures in our hospital with long segment upper ureteral stricture with a functioning moiety. All were evaluated with radiology and renal scan.
Results : Patients were submitted for ureteroscopy to identify the length of stricture then patient was placed in lateral position. Robot was docked in and an abnormal ureter was mobilized to keep it laid open. In same position left buccal mucosa was harvested and transferred in to the abdominal cavity to complete ureteroplasty. Post op recovery was excellent with good patency on follow-up.
Conclusion: This novel technique is a simple procedure with least morbidity for a long segment stricture of upper ureter. With the use of robotics the procedure is more simple with excellent outcome.
