Dr. Abhinav Deshpande is the Vattikuti Fellow at Manipal Hospital Bangalore, working under Fellowship Director Dr. Somashekhar, S. P. Deshpande shares with the Robotic Surgeons Council of India some of the historic research which led up to the first sucessful uterus transplants in a Swedish hospital.
The stringent requirements for the living donors and recipients is covered. He discusses the harvesting of the donor graft, and preparation given the recipient, and then he fully describes the anastomosis. Anti-rejection medication used both during the procedure and following it is noted.
