RoboGynIndia 2023 Conference

The Vattikuti Foundation is proud to have had a part in the Association of Gynaecological Robotic Surgeons of India (AGRS) 2-day meeting RoboGynIndia 2023. The meeting was held on the 12th and 13th of August at the Sheraton Hotel, Hyderabad, India.

More than 150 Gynaecologists attended from all over the country. In addition, four International Faculty were represent, as well as two faculty members, who joined via Zoom. There were also 25 Indian faculty. Day one of the meeting had 4 Master classes along with an inauguration, which was graced by Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint MD Apollo Hospitals Group and Mr Jayesh Ranjan, Principal secretary, Information & Technology, Government of Telangana, India. Dr. Reddy reminded the attendees of the longstanding leadership Apollo Hospitals have had in India, with over 12,000 robotic procedures across India at Apollo hospitals since 2011. Dr. Rooma Sinha was also lauded for her 700-plus individual procedures.

Dr. Sinha tells the Foundation: “The engaging discussions and interactive sessions led by the faculty- both national and international- truly enhanced the educational value of the meeting. The willingness of the faculty & delegates to engage with questions and foster an open exchange of ideas created an atmosphere conducive to learning and collaboration

Jayesh Ranjan, the Principal Secretary, I&C and IT, for the Government of Telangana also talked about the commitment the state has to growing robotic surgery manufacturing and development. In addition, their are plans to train university students in the sciences required for supporting the drive for Indian surgical robots.

Secretary Ranjan told the surgeons about the support the surgical community is also currently receiving: “The premier government healthcare institution in Hyderabad, NIMS has acquired a state-of-the-art da Vinci Xi 4th version system fully equipped robotic surgery lab, which no one in the country has- and that’s an example of the Telangana government leading by example.”

The second day had AGRS- Vattikuti Scholar Video presentations and AGSR Champions paper presentations. Keynote lectures, AGRS Oration, Presidential Address, Debates, Panel and videos by masters which enthralled the delegates. Five video awards of $500 as AGRS-Vattikuti Scholars were awarded where the 3rd and 4th prizes were shared. Prizes for their videos:

Dr. Rooma Sinha adds: “Of course, the networking dinner on 12th was a truly a testimony of long-lasting friendship and comradeship amongst the fast-increasing association of gynecologists interested in Robotic surgery.

We launched an Indo- European Training with 3 levels of training modules leading to a diploma in Gynecological Robotic surgery. 15 trainees receive the level 1 training certificates.
