578 MiniGPT-Pancreas for pancreatic cancer diagnosis

Dr. Andrea Moglia

Pancreatic tumors are very aggressive and lethal. Artificial intelligence has the potential to support clinicians in pancreatic cancer diagnosis. Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) represent a growing frontier in artificial intelligence for tasks integrating images and text. MiniGPT-Pancreas is the first MLLM specifically designed for the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. MiniGPT-Pancreas was obtained after fine-tuning MiniGPT-v2, a general-purpose MLLM, on computed tomography images for pancreas detection, tumor classification, and tumor detection on public datasets. MiniGPT-Pancreas was rated highly by a group of expert general surgeons in robot-assisted surgery as a potential training tool, especially for verification and training of young specialists.
