646 Robotic salvage lateral lymph node dissection

Dr. Ankit Sharma

Isolated lateral nodal recurrence imposes a significant surgical challenge. The tissue changes associated with total neo-adjuvant therapy, curative surgical procedure, and adjuvant chemotherapy make a technically demanding procedure even more complex. Apart from the intricate knowledge of the critical neurovascular structures along the lateral wall, such cases need precise and meticulous dissection to ensure adequate nodal clearance while preserving the important structures. The robotic platform is a valuable tool in the surgeon’s armamentarium. With its stable vision, precise dissection, and superior ergonomics, the robotic platform can mitigate the risks associated with this complex undertaking. The evidence regarding the utilisation of the robotic platform in rectal cancer has evolved significantly. However, there is limited data regarding its use in the recurrent setting, particularly for lateral lymph node clearance. We wish to present our approach of robotic salvage lateral lymph node dissection.
