Robotic Surgery in Gynecology

Dr. Vijayalakshmi Gavini, Chief of Gynecology and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Providence Vattikuti Women’s Robotic Surgery Institute begins by reviewing the costs of robotic surgery compared to other forms of surgery. Acquiring the robot, according to Gavini, does a great service to women, due to the better outcomes than traditional surgery. Providence is the leader in benign gynecology surgery in SE Michigan, thanks in part to the Vattikuti Foundation.
Gavini talks of her efforts in data collection, helping to accurately determine the costs for robotic procedures. Working with the whole staff, using data, she was able to direct usage to more satisfactory levels and reduce length of stays for patients. Lecture with PPT’s, 28:51
