663 Robotic Sigmoid Colectomy and Repair of Colo vesical Fistula: A Video Presentation

Dr. Omar Eldeeb

Problem: Colovesical fistula is a debilitating complication of diverticular disease, often associated with recurrent urinary tract infections and reduced quality of life. Conventional open repair carries significant morbidity, and laparoscopic surgery is technically demanding due to dense pelvic adhesions and the need for precise bladder repair. Solution: We present a robotic sigmoid colectomy with en bloc resection of the fistula and primary bladder repair. The robotic platform provides superior 3D visualization and wristed instrumentation, allowing safe dissection in a scarred pelvis and precise intracorporeal suturing of the bladder. Innovation: This approach demonstrates how robotic technology overcomes the limitations of conventional minimally invasive surgery. In our case(s), it resulted in complete fistula resolution, no intra- or postoperative complications, and excellent recovery, highlighting the role of robotics as a safe and effective solution for complex benign colorectal disease.
