665 Single-Port Surgeries in awake patients with virtual reality

Dr. Federico Lavagno

The combination of single-port robotic surgery and CSE anesthesia is a feasible and minimally invasive option for select, high-risk patients. Our experience suggest that integrating a VR headset can be a valuable tool for patient distraction during an awake robotic procedure. By transforming the patient’s experience from fearful to engaged, VR can enhance the safety, tolerability, and overall feasibility of performing complex robotic surgeries on conscious patients.
