Full Title: Giving Trainees the Best Hands On Learning Experience, Ensuring Patient Safety.

Dr. Rajesh Ahlawat is the Group Chairman, Institute of Urology & Robotic Surgery for Medanta the Medicity. He is also a Robotic Kidney Transplant pioneering surgeon. He has several obsevations about training for the next generation of robotic surgeons, during his talk to the Robotic Surgeons Council of India in Mussoorie, May 2018. It is a must-see lecture for those wishing to mentor young surgeons.

Some of Dr. Ahlawat’s observations include the fact that currently, there are no official guidelines on what should be part of a training curriculum. He also talks about what he calls “Shadow Learning,” when young surgeons try on their own to learn technique on robotic simulators, because of little or no console time. There is so much more- we suggest you watch this video!
