Robot Assisted partial Nephrectomy: Complications & Lessons Learnt

 

“The debate about partial nephrectomy versus radical nephrectomy should be confined to history books” says Dr. Amrith Rao, Consultant, Renal Sciences for Manipal Hospital. The study encompasses 108 patients who received robot assisted partial nepthrectomies (RAPN over four years. 18% had complications and reflected the surgeon’s learning curve. Most happened in the first 40 cases. In any case, surgeons must recognize when complications are occurring and take prompt action.
