Robotic Radical Nephrectomy with Level 1 IVC Thrombectomy
In this excellent presentation, Consultant Urologist and Transplant Surgeon, Aster Medcity, Dr. T. A. Kishore has a 53-year-old man with hematuria. “This case showcases the expanding horizons of the robotic instruments in the surgical armamentarium of urologists,” says Dr. Kishore. He uses very clear robotic surgery video clips as he narrates the highlights of his steps, including using robotic bulldog clamps for the IVC. We see how he waits to remove the renal tumor until after the arterial work.
He talks about the challenges of performing vascular robotic surgery: “It is vital to have the control of even the tiniest of the lumbar veins, because if there is bleeding from lumbar- one of the missed ones- it could be fatal.” We see the tumor removal along with lymph node dissection.
