Role of Robotic Surgery in Renal Mass Lesions

Senior Consultant in Urology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, Dr. Rajesh Taneja presents a unique case to the Robotic Surgeons Council of India. A 14-year old girl with flank pain is diagnosed with a 14cm lesion, which other surgeons insisted should be removed via open surgery. He shows and explains his robotic surgery video of the partial nephrectomy, describing highlights of the procedure.

“With the advent of robotic assisted technology, we are actually taking more and more complex cases,” he tells the surgeons in the group. “And partial nephrectomy for larger renal tumors has been reported to be successful worldwide.”

Other case highlights are shown and described as well.
