Role of Robotics in Lung Cancer Surgery

Dr. Cerfolio is a Professor of Surgery and Section Chief of Thoracic Surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at University of Alabama at Birmingham says “It’s a no-brainer that you should do everything robotically!” Quality of life is one of his prime reasons for his emphatic support of robotic surgery. He cites data from many different procedures, which prove that his robotic procedures are more successful, but does describe when switching to open surgery is required. He narrates surgery video from a robotic sleeve resection (one of 6 performed at the time of his lecture- January, 2015). Lecture, with PPT’s and surgery video. 20:11
