Understanding Prostate Cancer-A Surgeons Perspective

Vattikuti Foundation friend and VUI alumnus Prof. Dr. Ashutosh Tewari, Chairman of the Milton and Carroll Petrie Department of Urology at the Icahn School of Medicine at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City, takes a close look at the workings of prostate cancer from a scientific perspective- and as a robotic surgeon who has performed over 5000 prostatectomies since being a member of the original robotic team of Dr. Mani Menon at the VUI. His full presentation title is: Genomic Revolution and Robotic Surgery and It’s Impact on Prostate Cancer Care- A Surgeon ‘s Perspective. He describes the three different types of prostate cancer and the differentiation in how treatment is managed. He then gets into the genomic structure and how work is proceeding towards new understanding of the cancer at the cellular level. This lecture was recorded from a live webinar for the Vattikuti Scholar webinar series. Excellent content with incredible PowerPoints. 23:42
