My Journey As A Vattikuti Fellow

In February of 2018, Dr. Ashwin Tamhankar concluded his one-year Vattikuti Robotic Uro-oncology Fellowship with Dr. Gagan Gautam at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket. He had no robotic surgery experience! Dr. Tamhankar told the Robotic Surgeons Council of India about his goals and accomplishments, and bumps along the road. He also offered suggestions on how to improve the program. (He achieved full Intuitive Surgical certification thanks to his efforts and those of his Fellowship Director Dr. Gagan Gautam.)

His presentation is an interesting look at a surgical fellowship from the eyes of a young surgeon. Those considering applying for a Vattikuti Fellowship- and those considering mentoring a fellow- would benefit from hearing what he has to say.
